BOWLS DEVELOPMENT

The club welcomes opportunities to introduce people to the game of bowls. The club was the first to subscribe for the KBA’s proposed sponsored open-day programme in 2020; regrettably, Covid restrictions meant that the programme had to be delayed.

The parameters for playing bowls include physical capability – big-enough hands, flexibility etc – as well as limitations on the club itself, such as the shortage of small-sized bowls, overuse of the green, and the fact that the entire club is run by volunteers other than for the green-keeper.

During the past year, the club has hosted:

• A large pre-wedding party, coaching and arranging matches for more than 20 newcomers
• A group of scholars and staff from a local school
• Several families
• Many individuals for personal coaching
